Learn to Love Learning with Exigent
Exigent is committed to supporting each student's mathematical goals and aspirations through personalized assistance and engaging, thought-provoking activities. We equip students with the skills needed for the upcoming school year. Middle school students will concentrate on preparing for the fundamentals of Algebra, while high school students will explore various types of functions and their graphical, symbolic, and tabular representations. In addition to these topics, upperclassmen will also delve into pre-calculus concepts, providing them with a strong foundation for more advanced mathematical studies in the future.
Day in Exigent

Math Play:
8:30-9am
Start off the day by engaging in Math Play with your fellow students! Games include chess, dominos, origami and so much more. You can even recommend us a game if it isn't already available. Math Play offers a chance for you to explore and be curious about the mechanics and intricacies of the games around us.

Whole Class:
9-11am
After settling into our home tables, the class will learn how to work as a team to solve the activity of the day. Teachers and interns will be stationed at each table, offering support to those who need it and challenging those who seek it.

Focus Group:
11am-12pm
Focus Group time provides an opportunity to join smaller groups for more personalized learning tailored to your skill and grade level. With daily lessons and quizzes, these focus groups enable you to delve deeply into topics you will encounter in the upcoming school year. Additionally, Focus Group time allows you to receive direct help with mastery quizzes, ensuring you achieve the scores you desire.

Daily Mastery:
12-12:30pm
Each day, we offer you the opportunity to take a Mastery quiz. These quizzes cover the material we've discussed in our whole group sessions, focusing on your ability to remember, understand, and create your own material. Additionally, we celebrate students who achieve a score of 8 or higher on each quiz or demonstrate exceptional improvement over multiple attempts.

College Trips
Looking Toward the Future
At the end of the week, students will have the opportunity to visit some of the amazing universities here in Chicago! We will tour DePaul, Loyola, and The University of Chicago, allowing students to learn more about each institution and experience doing math in a college environment. Buses will transport, and students will be able to eat at the university dining halls.
